Instituto Sacatar Fellow + SFBG’s “Best Emerging
Artist” Jacinta Vlach is the Artistic Director-
Founder of Liberation Dance Theater, a dance-
theater collective rooted in ideologies of social
change through artistic expression + community
outreach. Jacinta began her dance training with
Reggie Savage + furthered her studies at North
Carolina School of the Arts + the Alvin Ailey
American Dance Center (Cert. of Dance Alumni).
Jacinta has toured and performed with
internationally acclaimed companies including:
Nathan Trice/ RITUALS, Robert Moses’ Kin, and
Philadanco. During her stay at Philadanco, she
had the pleasure of working with Jawole Willa
Jo Zollar, Geoffrey Holder, George Faison,
Deborah Chase, Otis Sallid, + others.

As a free-lance dancer she has performed with
Ronald K. Brown during his season at YBCA,
Kamal Sinclair’s off-Broadway show ‘the Beat’,
and has performed in numerous commercial
projects including Coca-Cola World Cup Fiesta
and ‘Agua del Rio’ music video for Santero.

E-Moves Harlem Stage, Identity Shifts YBCA, The
Living Word Festival, Chicago Center for the
Performing Arts, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival,
Philadelphia Dance Projects, Cuba Caribe, BDP
Zellerbach Theater + Velocity Dance Center
Seattle. She is an Instituto Sacatar Brazil Fellow
+ serves as guest faculty at UC Berkeley. She is
also the recipient of 3 Zellerbach Famly
Foundation Grants, a Puffin Foundation Grant,
SFAC’s Arts + Communities: Exploration Grant,
a Theater Bay Area award, and is currently
Resident Artist of ODC Theater.
